In our continuing effort to bring the Town’s assessment records up to date, your Assessors are attempting to collect data in the least intrusive and least expensive way we can. To do so, we are enlisting your help.
As you may know, the original “property cards” were destroyed in the Town Office fire in 1999. We would like to fill in the gaps in our records with basic information about your buildings. Our plan, mentioned in the Annual Report and approved by the budget committee, is to seek voluntary submittal from each taxpayer. Your help may reduce costs to the Town. Assessors would only need to perform some quality control to assure accuracy.
The attached survey is very simple to complete. There are about 25 multiple-choice questions for you to answer concerning your buildings. We ask that this survey be completed and returned to the Town Office by July 1, 2008. This mid-summer date provides your assessors time for some quality control follow-up and time if you would like us to visit your property and/or assist you in filling out the attached information. Uncompleted/unreturned surveys may require on-site visits.
If you would like us to visit and complete a more detailed assessment with you please call the Town Office to set up a time that would be convenient for us to visit with you. If you have questions or concerns, please call the Town Office at 589-4318.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation and assistance.
